Paris travel blog: My Parisian Life

There are so many blogs about Paris that it can be difficult to know where to start! One of our favourites is the beautiful My Parisian Life, written by an American (Yanique) who has relocated to Paris. The blog is aimed at other Parisians but it is also great if you are visiting the city and want to try the bars, restaurants and cafes that the locals love. Also read the monthly posts on the best things to do each month to find out what’s happening when you visit.

Paris travel blog: Lost in Cheeseland

Another of our favourite Paris blogs is Lost in Cheeseland written by Lindsay, an American food and travel writer living in Paris. She has lived in Paris for 10 years and shares the cafes, restaurants, attractions and places she has discovered during that time. If you want to expore Paris away from the tourist hotspots then Lost in Cheeseland is a great place to start.

Family travel blog: Life in our Van

Ever wanted to pack your bags, jump in a car and go off and explore Europe? That is exactly what Catherine, Richard, their two young daughters and their dog did and you can follow their progress on their blog Life in our Van. They are trying to visit as many European countries as possible in 15 months and are currently touring around France. As well as making you want to start your own road trip across France it is great for ideas for things to do with children.

Budget travel: The Savvy Backpacker

Although not just about France The Savvy Backpacker blog is a great resource for anyone planning to explore France on a tight budget. It is written by husband and wife team James and Susan who have travelled all around Europe with their dog Henry, and they have lived in Paris and so know the city well. Whether you are planning a summer-long backpacking trip or just want some ideas for travelling on a budget the tips and advice articles will be invaluable.

Provence travel blog: The Provence Post

If you’re planning a trip to Provence then you’d be advised to browse The Provence Post for ideas and tips on everything from local events to good restaurants and places to stay to villages to explore. It is written by Julie Mautner, a freelance food and travel writer who has lived in Provence on and off since 1999. It is a great place to look for ideas for your next trip to Provence.

Provence travel blog: Belle Provence Travels

Another useful blog for those planning a trip to Provence is Belle Provence Travels, written by Tuula, an American who has lived in Toulon for 6 years. Tuula shares her knowledge of the towns, villages and beaches of the south of France, as well as restaurant reviews and her favourite market each month. There is also plenty on Provençal food specialities and the culture – written with help from her French husband Nicholas.

Freewheeling France is more than just a blog; it’s your starting point for a cycling holiday in France with routes, accommodation, biker hire information and much more. However, there is a blog section where you can follow the cycling adventures of website founder Lyn Eyb and various other contributors and get ideas for your own cycling trip to France.

Photo blog: Paris Through My Lens

If you love Paris as much as us then you will love the photo blog Paris Through My Lens. American photographer Virginia Jones first visited Paris in 2007 and fell in love with the city and since then she has returned 9 times. She shares a photo of Paris every day, but don’t expect to see endless photos of the Eiffel Tower and the Notre-Dame. Rather Virginia focuses on the little details of the city like a café table or patisserie window and gives you an intimate look at Paris.

Photo blog: Loire Daily Photo

The Loire Valley is one of the most beautiful areas of France and you can see a different side to it on the photo blog Loire Daily Photo, run by Australian Rosemary Kneipp. As the name suggests, a new photo of the Loire Valley, especially the area around Blois which is where Rosemary lives, is posted every day but rather than the grand Renaissance châteaux of Villandry and Chenonceau you’ll see the hidden corners of the valley through the eyes of a local.
