Centre-Val de Loire
Lying south of Paris, the region was popular with the kings of France during the middle ages and Renaissance and as a result there are a number of stunning Renaissance chateaux in the area known as the Loire Valley. The Loire Valley is popular with tourists who come to explore the grand castles and gardens. As well as its chateaux, the Loire Valley is known for its wines with Sancerre, Vouvray, Touraine and Pouilly-Fumé.
Don’t miss out on a vineyard tour and wine tasting in the Centre-Val de Loire. For food specialities try local honey and saffron or goat’s cheese, including AOC Crottin de Chavignol and Valençay. Other specialities include Pâté de Chartres, Cochelin, citrouillat, truffiat, and fruits tapés.
