It’s been snowing on the Côte d’Azur and it looks magical
It’s been snowing on the Côte d’Azur! The Riviera resorts of Nice, Menton, Cannes and Saint-Tropez, and even the island of Corsica, are all covered by a blanket of snow. These are some of our favourite pictures of a snowy Côte d’Azur
The so-called ‘Beast from the East’ swept across the UK and Europe on 26 February bringing freezing temperatures and snow. In France, the snow fell not on the north of the country but in the Côte d’Azur, usually the sunniest area of France. The towns of Nice, Menton, Cannes and Saint-Tropez all had flurries of snow on Monday and the cold weather even affected Corsica – there were around 15cm of snow covering the beach at Ajaccio on Tuesday morning, something that hasn’t happened for more than 30 years. Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be the coldest days of the week and more snow is expected to hit the south of France and then move up to the north.
Locals and tourists have been sharing pictures of the rare sight of snow on the French Riviera. These are some of our favourites…
