If I could, I would

Every so often we come across a French property that knocks us for six. This month, Anna McKittrick tells us why this mas in Languedoc would be her dream home

Since visiting Languedoc for the first time a few years ago it’s held a special place in my heart and it is without a doubt the area of France where I would choose to live. This stunning mas on the outskirts of a village near Montpellier is just the sort of property I covet. Built in the 1900s and lovingly restored by an interior designer from London, it oozes with rustic charm and period features while combining modern comforts.

With three en-suite bedrooms the property is spacious enough to welcome guests but not too vast to maintain. As a keen cook I’d be more than happy to swap my galley kitchen for the extensive open plan cooking, dining and living space which is perfect for entertaining. During the everlasting summer that Languedoc is so renowned for the terrace, pool and garden area would come into its own and only adds to the appeal of the property. The price tag of €860,000 isn’t too eye-watering considering the house is ready to move in to, especially with the decor exactly to my taste. All I need to do is pack my bags and head off.
